Technology Takes Over the World

Ever since my first dayof school there has always been some kind of technology in the classroom. In my early years it was not as popular or used as much as it is now. I feel like in my early years we used technology to just get use to how it works and how to use technology such as a computer. I feel like now a days as I am doing my field experience in the classroom, the teacher or class could not go through a lesson without using technology of some sort.
In a way I feel like technology has done great improvments to the classroom as far as getting students more into the lesson also by furthering their education. Technology has provided students to learn lessons using all three learning styles. I feel like that is a great way to make sure students can learn all three ways and technology I feel plays a postive role in the students success.
I also feel there are some flaws in the technology as well. I feel students and teachers depend on technology to the point where if there is something wrong with it the lesson cannot function. I feel technology is great but we depend on it more than we should. For example students cant even do basic math without a calculator. I feel if there is a problem with technology then there will start to be problems in the students learning.

  1. It is interesting to think about how technology's importance in the classroom has increased. Also, I would agree that teachers sometimes depend on computers too much for lessons. As you say, if something goes wrong then the lesson can be ruined. Perhaps some teachers should have a backup plan ready in case a computer or other device fails.

I agree with you that technology is a major part of education and that we depend too much on it. I am looking forward to reading all your upcoming posts! :)

  3. Danny, I agree that many teachers depend on technology too much and when something goes wrong with that technology (ex-smartboard) the teacher and or classroom cannot function correctly.

  4. Good point. Technology can really enhance student learning and engagement, but it's usually wise for teachers to try out the tech they'll be using in advance to make sure it works as advertised or have a "plan B" lesson in their back pockets.
